Where Am I?

Between college graduations, Memorial Day, romantic nights, and not-so-romantic nights of drinking, I feel like I have abandoned my little creative baby here. Last night was a rough night for me, full of many tears and questions about where I really am in life.

I have come to realize that I always want more. I need to be happy with what I have. I don’t have it so terribly, but there are things I want that I just can’t possibly have right now.

I’ll bet those Golden Tickets make the chocolate taste terrible.

Out of any line from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, that one is my absolute favorite. Out of most films, that’s probably one of my favorite quotes in general. Simple, really. It sounds pessimistic when taken out of context, but the situation makes it so real.

You can dream and dream about something life-changing, but you can’t take the little things for granted. Something so small and sweet can make you the happiest person alive. You don’t need the money. You don’t need the fame. You just need a little love. Appreciate the small things in life, because the bigger life-changing events might just ruin the sweet taste of being yourself.

  1. Yep. It look me a lot longer than you to finally figure that all that out. Savor your sagacity!
